Amendments on the August Ballot: North County Democrats Recommend:
Vote YES: Amendment 1: continues a 1/10th of 1% sales/use tax for water conservation, state parks and historic sites.
VOTE NO: Amendment 4: regards the votes needed to pass an initiative petition. It changes votes needed from a simple majority of votes cast to a majority in every congressional district.
VOTE NO: Amendment 5: This measure gives the Mo Legislature the ability to expand sales taxes without a vote of the people. Proceeds from these sales taxes will be used to reduce income taxes. An estimate of 80% of Missourians will see taxes go up should this pass.
VOTE YES: St Louis County – Proposition U: Passage of this measure will allow the county to collect taxes from internet sales. Paying online taxes levels, the playing field for our local brick & mortar businesses who are currently required to collect tax on these items.
